Wisteria

I had to stop and take a picture of the beautiful lilac wisteria today. This particular photo is of the wisteria vine. I think it has a mysterious creeping look but it's beautiful at the same time. I love seeing it in the spring.

Sweet Potato Ivy

I got to work this morning, my first day back since Thursday afternoon, when I left to go have a root canal. We all had Friday off, so somehow in the hustle of all of that, I forgot to water my plants in my office. When I arrived this morning, my poor little sweet potato ivy was just dying for some water. She was all withered and dry. She's been in my office since last year. I picked her out of a whole table of plants, and she was only $1.00. Over the months, I've watched her adjust to her new home on top of my bookshelf and grown and thrive. This morning, I felt her pain. Surely plants have feelings. Hopefully, she'll make a quick comeback. Just seeing her all withered reminds me of myself. I used to think I was a broken person, not capable of being mended. Now I am trying to see myself in a different light. Maybe I am not so broken afterall. Maybe I am like my sweet potato ivy and I am just quenched right now.

Wild Things...

Well, for those of you who think raccoons are sweet masked bandits, think again. I caught a snapshot of this scary creature on my front porch last night, stealing cat food. He and his accomplice were raiding food that I put out for YC, the stray cat who adopted my front porch two years ago. These raccoons were hissing and snarling and growling at each other, fighting over the cat food. It was pretty intense, so I grabbed my camera, hoping to get good shots. Apparently, I don't know how to use my camera properly. I kept hitting the button and it kept telling me it was busy, like it had something better to do! Very frustrating! Guess I should spend the weekend reading my camera manual, again!

Anyway, you get the idea of what life is like in the country... You never know what wild thing is going to crawl on your front porch. It almost caused my 3 Chihuahuas to go into cardiac arrest!
